Atto signs dealership agreements for nationwide distribution of its full spectrum live-cell CARV confocal module

Rockville, MD - In an effort to expand it's nationwide presence in the personal confocal market, Atto Bioscience announced Friday that it has completed agreements with a number of well respected microscope dealers, providing market coverage to the entire United States. "This dealership network greatly expands our ability to satisfy customer needs for a high quality live-cell confocal solution coupled with the customer support and technical expertise of this countries top microscope dealers," said Dan Komarek, Director of Business Development for Atto. "Customers will now be able to purchase a complete confocal system or upgrade their current microscopes with a cost-effective and flexible confocal product, and have it installed and supported by the same companies that they have been working with for years. Since it requires no software for operation, the customer can continue to use the imaging software they are familiar with."

The dealerships include A.G. Heinz in the West, Freyer Co. in the Mid-West and Universal Imaging which will cover the North-East. Atto is in the process of expanding dealerships internationally as well. The CARV unit employs optically precise spinning disk confocal technology and a mercury or xenon vapor illumination source to produce sharp structural images across the full light spectrum, including UV. Because of multi-point scanning, samples can be viewed in real-time, and CARV can easily be switched between confocal and wide field epifuorescence viewing. This unique optical design also minimizes photobleaching of the fluorescent label allowing multiple viewing events of each sample. CARV provides fast imaging by eliminating the time consuming sample scanning of z-stacks required by conventional laser based confocal technology, saving several minutes per sample. Images are captured using a high-speed cooled CCD camera allowing cellular events to be captured in real-time.
