BD™ CARV II can be configured to a variety of inverted microscopes. For upright microscopes please contact BD Bioscience.

Recommended CCD Camera Range

The following camera from the Cooke Corporation is recommended:

  • SensiCam QE (for high spatial (6.4um pixel) resolution 1-10fps)
  • Sensicam EM (for high sensitivity and medium spatial resolution)

The following CCD cameras from Roper Scientific are recommended:

  • Photometrics CoolSNAP HQ (for high spatial resolution 1-10fps)
  • Photometrics CoolSNAP ES (for high spatial resolution 1-10fps)
  • Photometrics Cascade : 512B (for high temporal resolution 20-100fps)

The following cameras from the Hamamatsu Corporation are recommended:

  • ORCA ER (for high spatial resolution 1-20fps)
  • ORCA ER 1394 (for high spatial resolution 20-100fps)

Recommended 3D Software

Control of and communication with the BD™ CARV II is accomplished via the RS-232 serial port at the back of the touch screen assembly. This DB-9 connector accepts a standard, straight through DB-9 extension cable to connect a PC host that is either running a standard terminal program or an application designed to integrate the CARV II into an imaging system. Command sets needed to control the CARV II are available on request.

  • Ludl (External stepper motor and controller)
  • Prior (External stepper motor and controller)
  • PI Piezo drive for the objective
