High content analysis using automated image-based technologies is one of the fastest growing areas in drug discovery. There is no limitation to the amount of biological information that can be found using the power of imaging. With the BD Pathway™, both AttoVision® software and Pattern Recognition: Image Interpretation Technology help the user extract and decipher this biological information.

The Pathway system is driven using the powerful AttoVision software.

AttoVision Software

Designed to provide researchers with ultimate flexibility in designing and implementing cell based assays, the BD Pathway™ software integrates a novel data classification capability. After imaging at high resolution, cells are automatically identified and fluorescence intensity is monitored at the cellular or subcellular level. Using selective criteria, each cell can be automatically classified, during the experimental run, by a number of cell specific features (fluorescence intensity, rate of change, redistribution, etc.). Once classified, cells can be counted and traces color coded. Additionally, wells can be color-coded based on criteria selected by the user, enabling whole plate maps to identify particular responses of interest. The software also incorporates sophisticated 3D rendering capabilities allowing the system to be used as an automated confocal imaging workstation.

Kinetic Class
Novel Boolean data analysis quickly classifies cells into different functional categories.

Pattern Recognition: Image Interpretation Technology

The Cytoprint program utilizes Atto's proprietary pattern recognition technology to automate image-based drug screening.

The Cytoprint technology allows:

  • Faster algorithm development for assay development
  • Ability to run more sophisticated assays which can be easily interpreted
  • Creation of "fingerprints" of images that are searchable in a database
  • Large number of biological events can be measured in a single experiment
  • Identification of unknown or unanticipated responses
