IBC 2009, Amsterdam, Netherlands (September 10, 2009) — ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, is continuing its well-established role as first-to-market technology leaders featuring the industry's only 6Gb/s SAS/SATA host adapter product line along with its 8Gb/s Fibre Channel host adapters including a quad-channel card that delivers the fastest available Fibre Channel data transfer rate of 6400MB/s. Located in Hall 7 stand F41, ATTO will also feature two live high-performance storage connectivity demonstrations that show high-end digital media clients how they can achieve dramatic improvements in storage performance and overall project workflow in both direct attached and shared storage environments.
Demonstration One – High-Performance RAID for Direct Attached Storage
ATTO will feature its ExpressSAS® SAS/SATA RAID Adapters demonstrating cost-effective, RAID data protection to direct attached SATA JBOD storage while providing for high-performance multiple-stream SD and HD video editing. ExpressSAS® adds RAID at the host level to connect with inexpensive JBOD storage for an affordable solution when compared to using costly RAID arrays. ExpressSAS® RAID adapters are highly scalable -- you can expand your JBOD storage by connecting up to 64 devices. This host RAID solution provides high-performance RAID protection and support for applications running Mac®, Windows® and Linux.
Demonstration Two – ATTO Offers High-Availability RAID Solution for High-Performance SAN Environments
The ATTO FastStream Storage Controller allows one or more 8Gb/s Fibre Channel host(s) to connect to multiple tiers of low-cost SAS/SATA disk storage enclosures while adding RAID protection in a networked SAN environment. By aggregating inexpensive disk storage, customers can have a low-cost, easy-to-manage storage infrastructure. FastStream Storage Controllers enable small workgroups to implement a shared storage workflow without the need for a Fibre Channel switch. Designed for media and entertainment applications, FastStream supports up to five streams of 10-bit uncompressed HD editing or up to 30 streams of DVCPro HD while simultaneously accessing 48 streams of uncompressed audio. The SC 8500 provides users the ability to scale their performance and storage without purchasing RAID every time expansion is needed. FastStream SC is also designed specifically for digital media environments so that even if a potentially costly drive failure or rebuild occurs, full stream counts are maintained to continue workflow and meet project deadlines. ATTO RAID storage controllers provide intelligent solutions offering accelerated performance, simplified management and peace-of-mind RAID protection for stored data.
“This year's IBC provides us with the opportunity to demonstrate how ATTO solutions support high-bandwidth applications in multiple environments. We will also showcase how ATTO storage infrastructure solutions simplify and improve digital media workflow,” states Tom Kolniak, director of products for ATTO Technology, Inc.
ATTO's complete product line will be exhibited, including:
In addition to their exhibit, ATTO products will also be a part of demonstrations being shown by many of our industry partners, including: AJA, Autodesk, Avid, Digital Rapids, Da Vinci, EditShare, Facilis and Global Distribution.
