ATTO Ships the Industry’s Fastest Storage Controller for Virtualized, Software - Defined Data Centers

Key building block for creating modular SSD arrays and MetroHA solutions

Mar 09, 2015

Amherst, New York (March 9, 2015) - ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage, network connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments for more than 25 years, today announced that it is now shipping the industry's fastest storage controller - the FibreBridge® 7500. Based on the field proven technology introduced with the FibreBridge® 6500, which leading storage companies have installed in thousands of data centers worldwide, the 7500 brings Enterprise-level Fibre Channel to SAS SSD/HDD storage with less than 4 microseconds of latency, enabling applications such as shared storage and multi-site clustering.

"IT professionals have invested a large portion of their equipment and personnel resources into developing next generation data centers only to realize there remains a significant bottleneck in their storage infrastructure," said Wayne Arvidson, vice president of marketing and channels at ATTO Technology, Inc. "By utilizing this unique ATTO platform with off the shelf JBOD storage and software defined storage capabilities, users can create a best of class solution."

The ATTO FibreBridge® 7500 Storage Controller is an accelerated platform that allows users to build their own high performance flash, hybrid or high capacity storage using standard SAS SSD Flash or HDD drives and direct attached JBOD storage enclosures. The exceptionally fast acceleration architecture of ATTO's 7500 has dedicated memory modules and data paths so commands won't have to compete for shared system resources, further allowing more data transfers at faster transfer rates.

Key benefits of the FibreBridge® 7500 include:

  • Serves as the key building block in a modular solution that forms an ideal platform for building out a virtualized, software-defined data center for Private Cloud and Disaster Recovery solutions, all with a low cost of ownership.
  • Up to 735,000 4K IOPS, 1,000,000 512b IOPS.
  • Allows data mobility and redundancy via multisite cluster installations up to hundreds of kilometers apart.
  • Enables users to manage storage infrastructures with advanced read ahead and write cache algorithms, robust error processing, email notification of errors and persistent error and trace logs to minimize downtime in the field during troubleshooting.
  • Complementing the new FibreBridge® 7500 is ATTO's 16 GB/s and 8 GB/s Celerity™ family of Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters, FibreConnect™ and Thunderbolt™ enabled Desklink Devices, which connect computer platforms to high-speed networks and storage infrastructures. With the addition of the FibreBridge® 7500 Storage Controller, ATTO further extends the industry's broadest range of storage and network connectivity products, all optimized to work together.

The FibreBridge® 7500 storage controller is now shipping, and is being qualified by select OEMs.
