ATTO FibreBridge®s Certified Interoperable with Computer Associates ARCserve® Backup

Storage Networking World, Dallas, TX (October 15, 2007) — ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, announced today that two of its Fibre Channel-to-SCSI bridges, the FibreBridge® 2390 and FibreBridge® 2400 have been certified interoperable with CA ARCserve® Backup r11.5 for Windows. The combination of ATTO's bridging and CA's software products provides customers with an easy-to-use, long-term data protection solution for workgroups or enterprises, and a cost-effective path towards storage consolidation and management.

When used in conjunction with tape drives, autoloaders and libraries, the FibreBridge®s relieves pressure on shrinking backup windows by improving the reliability and performance of backups while reducing administrative overhead and faster data recovery, thereby saving time and money.

Both the FibreBridge® 2390 and 2400 offer 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel-to-Ultra320 SCSI connectivity, and are available in both 4U cPCI embeddable and 1U rackmount/desktop form factors. Both bridges offer simple solutions for OEMs and end users alike to add Fibre Channel connectivity to their storage devices, in addition to offering a number of value-added features which enhance the performance and usability of storage behind the bridge. Along with Fibre Channel-to-SCSI bridges, ATTO offers its iPBridge™ product line, an extensive line of iSCSI bridges with features that support connectivity-based solutions to mid-range enterprise-class products.

CA's popular BrightStor ARCserve Backup software is among the industry's leading backup solutions for today's heterogeneous departmental server environments and provides complete end-to-end storage protection for all critical business storage assets from the laptop to the mainframe. ARCserve Backup
r11.5 – CA's backup and recovery solution – offers superior management features, broad platform support, ease of use, outstanding performance and seamless integration with third-party products.

The ATTO FibreBridge® 2390 and 2400 offers benefits found on all ATTO bridges, including:

  • Simplified Management – ATTO's ExpressNAV™ is a web-based GUI which allows customers to remotely manage storage devices attached to the FibreBridge®. This eases configuration, upgrades, monitoring and management by providing an easy-to-use interface accessible through any web browser.
  • Enhanced Performance – The ATTO-designed SpeedWrite™ feature improves the performance of SCSI storage by efficiently queuing outstanding Write commands. By improving Write performance, the FibreBridge® 2390 and 2400 allows users to complete backups in shorter time periods.
  • Reduced Failed Backups – ATTO's Virtual Drive Response (VDR) technology enables the bridge to respond to requests on behalf of busy or unresponsive tape storage. This reduces the number of failed or incomplete backups, thus improving the reliability of the backup process.

“As a leader in IT management software solutions, CA's validation of the FibreBridge® 2390 and 2400 reinforces ATTO's commitment to delivering leading storage infrastructure solutions,” states Tom Kolniak, director of products for ATTO Technology. “ATTO remains committed to ensuring the highest levels of interoperability with industry leaders like CA. Seamless integration into existing environments allows users already running BrightStor ARCserve Backup to reap all the benefits of ATTO's FibreBridge® products such as faster backups and restores and simplified management.”

By certifying the FibreBridge® 2390 and 2400 with CA, ATTO's proven interoperability standards continue to evolve as the market introduces new releases and products. This allows ATTO to continue to offer a winning combination of performance, usability and affordability in their bridging products.
