Amherst, NY (March 13, 2007) — ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, today announced general availability of its ExpressSAS® R348 and R380 RAID adapters. As part of the product rollout, the company also unveiled its SAS Advantage channel program, developed to offer VARs and integrators increased revenue opportunities in selling SAS-based digital video and high-throughput IT environments. For those VARs targeting organizations with bottleneck problems in video, backup and other content rich applications on servers and storage, ExpressSAS® will bring new levels of performance with ATTO Technology's most powerful and flexible line of RAID adapters.
Serial Attached SCSI is the next generation SCSI interface, delivering significant improvements in scalability, performance, reliability, and flexibility over parallel SCSI by leveraging a serial architecture for data transport to satisfy the requirements for a broad range of corporate IT and digital media applications. According to International Data Corp., the market will transition rapidly from parallel SCSI to Serial SCSI over the next year when SAS is projected to account for one-third of the storage connectivity market, compared to 25 percent for Fibre Channel. "SAS is gaining momentum and should give Fibre Channel a run for its money," says Dave Reinsel, director of storage research at IDC.
These new RAID adapters leverage the power of ATTO's customer-proven high-performance RAID technology – including the company's proprietary Advanced Data Streaming (ADS™) technology that alleviates data transfer bottlenecks -- and Intel's new PCIe Intel® IOP348 I/O Processors with integrated high-performance XScale® technology to meet the most demanding performance requirements of data-intensive applications, including transactional databases, email servers, large server farms and digital media.
Featuring advanced fault-tolerant features that include hot swap, hot spares, online capacity expansion, battery back-up, and optimized disk utilization for SAS drives, SATA, and SATA II drives, or any combination of the two, the ATTO ExpressSAS® R348 and R380 adapters deliver an intelligent and robust low-profile RAID solution. The SAS, SATA and SATA II support make it easy to create cost-effective multi-tiered storage solutions in a rack or single cabinet, utilizing SATA drives for secondary storage while staging critical primary data on higher-performance SAS disks.
ATTO's SAS-enhanced channel program opens the door to revenue opportunities in the emerging SAS technology space, giving integrators an advantage in throughput intensive applications. The company's program offers resellers pre-sales phone and online technical support; lead sharing to stimulate initial sales and generate volume; and online/ webinar-based sales training, and implementation training. ATTO is also enabling extensive integration and product value-add opportunities for resellers by certifying tiered storage solutions that combine SAS and SATA drives in a single enclosure running off of an ExpressSAS® RAID adapter.
Since 1988, ATTO Technology has proven itself as a valued technology provider, delivering the highest levels of customer support and technology to outperform existing competitive offerings. Beyond technology and service, other reseller benefits of working with ATTO include:
“We have received excellent feedback on ExpressSAS® in production environments, especially across bandwidth intensive applications,” said Ed Tierney, director of marketing for ATTO Technology. “We are excited to bring emerging opportunities in SAS to our partners, who have trusted relationships with their clients. For OEMs, resellers and integrators seeking competitive advantage in the areas of data protection, video, analytics/scientific and design, our ExpressSAS® adapters are the only low-profile offering to deliver the industry's best price/performance without network complications.”
ExpressSAS® RAID adapters are available immediately. MSRP is $1095.
