NetApp finds ATTO Fibre Channel HBAs have 50% less max latency and overall less average latency than closest competitor
Content creation relies on high bit rate and bit depth applications that can place heavy demands on data networks. This is why Fibre Channel remains a key storage network technology used for media workflows. It is a low latency solution that provides deterministic throughput and reliability. Routine actions like playback, which has been transitioning from HD and 2K to 4K and 8K streams, are smooth and glitch-free thanks to deterministic Fibre Channel backbones.
Latency is a significant cause of glitches, dropped-data, and other network gremlins that test the nerves of media editors and content creators. Using a multiple single threaded frametest, ATTO products were able to achieve 38.5GB/s equating to 32 simultaneous 4K streams at 24fps without any dropped frames. That’s 50% less max latency and overall less average latency than the closest competitor. The combination of ATTO MultiPath Director™ and ATTO Advanced Data Streaming (ADS™) kept latency low, leading to these impactful performance results.
