Partner Spotlight – DataCore Software

Considered a pioneer in software-defined storage, DataCore® Software of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was founded in 1998 by George Teixeira and Ziya Aral. Their vision was that all storage should be pooled together, available over a network and that it should be hardware and software agnostic.

Datacore developed and released SANsymphony™, which is software that converts islands of dissimilar storage into a pool of networked storage. SANsymphony could scale from workgroups to a full-scale enterprise SAN and included powerful tools contained in a well-organized interface. Administrators could easily add storage and servers, assign access and perform many management functions on the fly.

Building on this strong foundation, DataCore remains an authority on software-defined storage. Its patented technologies empower IT organizations to achieve a highly efficient, high-performance, always-available software-defined storage infrastructure by providing architecture flexibility and eliminating vendor lock-in. DataCore’s proven, mature and reliable solutions help their customers eliminate downtime and increase storage utilization at higher performance while reducing costs by 50 percent or more.

ATTO Technology and DataCore first started working together almost 20 years ago, with ATTO initially a part of DataCore’s SANvantage™ Technical Partner Program. At that time, ATTO and DataCore teamed to qualify ATTO ExpressPCI Fibre Channel host bus adapters as target and initiator ports for SANsymphony network storage. Since ATTO has been at the forefront of Fibre Channel development with its exclusive acceleration technologies, this collaboration gave software-defined storage even more speed potential.

That relationship continues today, with both companies now working closely together to integrate ATTO XstreamCORE® intelligent bridges with DataCore software to make direct-attached storage available over Fibre Channel or Ethernet. This solution forms a highly resilient SAN with virtually zero downtime. DataCore software with ATTO XstreamCORE provides unmatched configuration flexibility while delivering high availability and high performance while reducing enterprise storage costs.
