SAS or NVMe? Decisions, Decisions

Storage architects need to respond to today’s business needs by ensuring the storage solutions they choose provide the correct mix of security, stability, scalability and management features.

While new storage protocols like NVMe are continually entering the market, there are essential considerations to review and weigh before moving to a new technology.

SAS is a cost-effective, proven technology used in data centers across the globe.  Its cost-per-GB and performance/price are far better than NVMe.  Most data centers depend on SAS’s native command set, and so transitioning to NVMe would be a significant resource commitment.
