ATTO Partners with Toshiba to Demonstrate Advanced High-Capacity, High-Availability HDD Storage Solution

With a certified data storage solution balances flexibility, performance and price while offering massive capacity, ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader in network and storage connectivity celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, is partnering with Toshiba to demonstrate an advanced high-capacity, high-availability HDD storage solution along with a high-density media storage benchmark September 15-18 at IBC 2023 in Amsterdam.

ATTO ExpressSAS® 12Gb SAS Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) and ATTO FastFrame™ 100GbE SmartNICs will power connectivity for an 800TB ZFS-based storage system demonstration in Toshiba’s stand (Stand 6.A27) at IBC. The post-production, media streaming and archiving showcase will utilize 60x 20TB hard disk drives in a live performance benchmark.

Toshiba’s setup includes ATTO ExpressSAS H120FGT 16 Internal Port 12Gb/s SAS/SATA to PCIe 4.0 Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) powering Toshiba SSDs inside a Supermicro server. Toshiba HDDs are connected to the server via ExpressSAS® H12F0GT 16 External Port 12Gb/s PCIe 4.0 HBAs. ATTO FastFrame N412 Dual Channel 100GbE x16 PCIe 4.0 SmartNICs are used for cluster transfers using RDMA.

The demonstration system is a jointly certified solution combining the cost-effectiveness of HDDs, incredible speed of NVMe-based caching devices, and state-of-the-art connectivity hardware and software. The result is a high-performance storage solution for real-world data production environments with an exceptional balance of performance and total cost of ownership (TCO).
